Texans Still Have the Sexiest Accent in America, According to a Survey

There are a lot of things to love about the state of Texas: the food, the friendly people, the fact that it gave us George Strait, Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Selena and Matthew McConaughey. We could go on and on. But a recent survey found one more thing to love about the Lone Star State: the accents. Yes, y'all. According to a survey conducted by Big Seven Travel, Texans have the sexiest accent in America — for two years running.

On the list of the top 50 sexiest accents in the U.S., Texas comes in at No. 1, nudging out New York and Boston, which came in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, on the 2020 survey.

"Who can resist a slow, Texan drawl? Not us, and not our community, clearly," the article on Big Seven Travel reads. "The typical Texan accent is a "Southern accent with a twist", with strong 'r's and plenty of 'Howdy's'. America's sexiest accent? We'd have to agree."

There's no argument here. Who can resist the dreamy drawl of a "hey, y'all" or a sultry "alright, alright, alright"? So the next time you saddle up to the Whataburger counter to order a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, take pride in the undeniable sexiness of your speech.

Alabama ("The Alabama accent is strongly rhotic, with extra 'r's added to words that don't need them - like "warsh" instead of wash," the survey reads), Chicago, California, Philadelphia, Maine, Northwestern and Kentucky accents round out the top 10 for the 2020 survey.

Other southern states to make the top 20 include the New Orleans' Cajun accent at No. 18, Mississippi at No. 12 and Tennessee at No. 19.
