The state of Texas will honor Kenny Rogers and Kris Kristofferson with the Texas Medal of the Arts.
The award celebrates artists and entertainers from Texas that have and continue to embody the Texas spirit. Past awards recipients include Willie Nelson, Charley Pride and Lyle Lovett.
Rogers will receive the Texas Medal of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his career success as a crossover artist. Meanwhile, Kristofferson's Multimedia Award will honor his illustrious career as an actor, singer and songwriter.

Both natives of the Lone Star State, Rogers and Kristofferson will receive their awards this February. The ceremony will take place on Feb. 22 at the University of Texas campus in Austin.
While Rogers and Kristofferson serve as the most notable country names amongst this year's recipients, they are not alone. Other honorees set to receive Texas Medal of the Arts awards include Scott Pelley, Yolanda Adams and Paul Mitchell.
