Jamie Brown, 46, died on Saturday, December 28, after an EF-2 Tornado passed through Brazoria County, Alvin, Texas. According to news outlet KHOU, "the tornado moved from the southwest end of County Road 172 to the eastern edge of Hillcrest." The tornado had a path length of 8.8 miles and destroyed several buildings, including houses. It also damaged Walt Disney Elementary School and a daycare center.

According to Stafnie Brown, Jamie's wife, she was in a modular house making lunch when the tornado struck. "I guess my mom's house hit their house, and it kind of knocked it off, and I guess the tornado picked it up. Based on what I understand, it picked it up whole, threw it over there, dropped and exploded," she said.

The report explains that the EF-2 tornado threw the modular home more than 100 feet, with Jamie still inside. "It picked it up whole (the modular house), threw it over there, it dropped and exploded," Stafnie said.

Stafnie ran toward the wreckage, trying to find Jamie. "I searched, and I searched, and I hollered, and I searched, and I hollered. I walked that way, and that's when I found her," she said. Stafnie attempted to perform CPR but was unable to resuscitate Jamie. Stafnie said she was "pummeled by stuff and the house."

The Tornado Completely Destroyed The Family Home

Stafnie's brother, Billy Foster, and his wife, Erika Ackerman, lived in the modular home with their two children. Fortunately, they weren't inside the house when the tornado uprooted it, but Billy is unconvinced his insurance company will do anything to help.

In an interview with KHOU, Billy said, "Our house is now behind the neighbor's house, completely shredded to nothing. We have insurance, but the last two storms we've had, hurricane Harvey and all that, they've refused to help us."

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds after the house was wrecked. At the time of writing, the fundraiser has raised $7144 of a $12,000 target.
