There's just something about the Lone Star State that makes thieves hungry. Not too long ago, a Texas man was busted after stealing $1.2 million in fajitas over a span of years. And after that, a man robbed an Austin barbecue food truck only to return the next day for a second meal. While those stories were silly in their own right, this one just might take the cake. When three suspects robbed a Shipley's Do-Nuts location in north Houston, the surveillance footage captured a real Robin Hood moment.
Per the Star-Telegram, the robbery occurred at 3 p.m. on October 16. An odd time for a robbery in broad daylight, right? Houston police finally released the surveillance footage of this unusual case. Be sure the watch the third suspect.
As you can see, three men walk into the store. One suspect holding a handgun hops over the counter and demands money from the registers. The second man joins him, and the third suspect begins to collect cellphones from customers.
However, while the first and second suspects are busy handling the cash, the third suspect went over to the doughnut case and began to offer the customers in the store doughnuts. No doubt were these customers horrified at the current situation.
However, the third suspect hops back over the counter and starts handing out doughnuts to the customers. The suspects then leave the store. If you have any information on the robbery, please contact police at (713) 222-8477.
