The incident occurred in Rusk County after Sergeant Shane Iverson pulled over Timothy Michael Randall. He claimed the man had run a stop sign, and when he disputed it, demanded the man climb out of his car. Pushing him up against the vehicle, he began his body search by shoving his hands down the front of the man's pants.
Before Randall had a chance to even think, he had the police officer's hands on his groin. This threw him off, and amid his insistence that he had done nothing wrong, he flinched. The police officer withdrew his hands and attempted to pull the Randalls' hands behind his back.
Sergeant Iverson was significantly smaller than Randall and can be seen to struggle to put the man's hands in a handcuff position. The ensuing tussle throws them both to the floor. As Randall rolls away, the police officer pulls out his gun and shoots him.
Randall runs for his life, having been shot in the chest by Iverson but dies a few yards away.
Iverson Faced No Charges After Shooting Randall, Retired Peacefully
The death of the 29-year-old Texan happened in September 2022. The Randall case remained very much private, and Sergeant Shane Iverson was allowed to retire quietly, receiving a pension and no charges.
His mother struggled for months, trying to find out what happened to her child. However, she was kept in the dark until she filed a lawsuit in 2023. Only then was the disgusting body cam footage of the killing of the unarmed man revealed.
The Rusk County community has rallied around the murdered man, demanding justice from the killer cop. However, he continues to face no charges and has repeatedly attempted to have the case thrown out. They continue to struggle on, with a GoFundMe for the man.
