The A 20 Havoc plane was performing maneuvers for the thrilled crowd at the WBCA Air Show at Laredo International Airport in Texas. The plane performed a low pass over the runway, before banking up. However, as it pulled away and began to turn, it experienced mechanical failure.
It is believed that the plane suffered an engine fire. This forced the plane to make an emergency landing just outside of the air show airport. The plane with its single pilot landed the right way up. However, the pilot received considerable injuries in the plane crash.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Pilot Of The Crashed Military Plane Suffered Serious Injuries
Despite landing upright and intact, the pilot of the crashed military plane had a tough time of it. The emergency services rushed out the downed aircraft and pulled him from the burning wreckage. He was immediately airlifted to a local hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.
The spokesperson responsible for the air show released a statement about the plane crash. "The plane did have mechanical issues in the air and had to do an emergency landing. The pilot did suffer injuries, facial and head and he is going to be flown out to San Antonio by air."
After the incident, roads outside of the air show were closed down. This was to allow the emergency services to pass through. However, once the pilot had been cleared, and the downed plane secured, the event continued as planned.
People were advised to stay away from the area where the plane went down until it was secured. However, despite the plane crash, the airshow continued with the rest of the events.
This plane crash is just another in the spate of incidents happening across the US. Just a day before, another small private plane lost contact with the tower shortly after takeoff. It was found, only a short distance away, crashed in the woods. Both passengers were killed in the incident.

Who writes this stuff? They repeatedly say there were two passengers aboard. No, you say there were only two aboard---- the pilot and one passenger--- and both died in the crash. Learn some high school English.
The point is a plane crashed and 2 died.
How to make a sensational story out of a tragic but fairly common event, similar to: "Man killed in automobile accident in California." Save that headline, you'll need it tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, etc., etc.
Pilot error, 95% of small plane crashes. I am a pilot. I know.
The number was not in question. Pointless reply.
