Blake Shelton has been making the rounds on all the talk shows to promote his new album, For Recreation Use Only. Recently, he sat down with Kelly Clarkson on the Kelly Clarkson Show. There, he spoke about the time fans confused him with another fellow country singer: Terri Clark.
This is a pretty old story, so I'm gonna have to ask you to take your mind back to the early 2000s. You know, the time when Blake Shelton was rocking a notable mullet. When he was clean-shaven and had the curly mullet, he did look a little more effeminate.
No disrespect, just sayin'.
The story takes place in a Fan Fair, which is what CMA Fest used to be before the name change in 2004. Things were a little more relaxed in the Fan Fair days, as Shelton explains as he sets the scene.
"They had this parking lot, because CMA Fest used to be called Fan Fair way back in the day, and fans figured out where artists would park their cars and instead of waiting in line to get autographs they could just stand against this fence and yell for artists to sign their stuff," he recalled.
"And one day I was leaving... and as I was walking out I kept hearing people scream for Terri Clark."
You can tell where this is going.
Blake Shelton Gets Confused For Terri Clark
"I was like, 'Oh, Terri Clark's out here,'" he continued.
"I started looking around and I saw the fans like, 'Oh God,'" he reenacted their reaction. "They thought I was Terri Clark."
"My hair was long, we had on the wranglers, the boots and the hat," he said, understanding where they were coming from.
"Terri, I don't know who's more offended."
Well, Blake, we have our answer!
Hilariously, Terri Clark reposted that clip of the talk show and uploaded it to her own TikTok.
"I am 100% more offended than Blake Shelton should be," she wrote with a laugh. "This story never gets old."
I don't think it ever will.
