Lightning Nearly Strikes Indonesian Tennis Player
Moments into the video, lightning blasted just a few meters from her, hitting a tree in the background. Nana jolted in surprise, throwing her racquet to the ground. Given how wet the court was, the lightning could've easily struck closer to the tennis player, resulting in injury or death.
The tennis player and her coach seemed to be mid-game, ignoring the warning signs from above. Right after she hit the ball back, the lightning sound boomed loudly, a bright strike igniting behind her. I would imagine right after the video she ran off court and sought out shelter from the storm.

Nana explained in the post in Indonesian how the terrifying incident went down. "Just as I was about to finish the last 30 minutes of the training session, this lightning came down and hit the tallest tree," she wrote.
"From there I was really shocked," Nana continued, explaining how she froze after slamming down her racquet. She also mentioned how her coach was speechless since "he most clearly saw the lightning strike in front of his eyes."
Before she posted the full video clip, she created a funny 'POV' video about the situation only including the part where lightning struck. It has nearly 30 million views now, while the video showcasing the full video has over 2.5 million views.
Since the near-death experience from last week, Nana has continued to train and has posted more videos. Just a day after the incident, Nana shared a video of a beautiful sunset behind her tennis court. It seems like she has emotionally recovered from it and is back to business.
Indonesia is known to be one of the top countries in the world for the most lightning activity. So it's no surprise to see Nana experience a terrifying encounter like this and bounce back soon after it. Just last year lightning illuminated the sky in Indonesia after it struck Mount Ruang volcano, causing it to erupt.
