Tennessee Man Claims That His Dog Accidentally Shot Him While He Was In Bed

Sometimes, a dog isn't a man's best friend but a man's worst enemy. A man from Tennessee claimed that his dog accidentally shot him in the leg while he was lying in bed with a woman. Just before 4 AM on Monday, March 10, officers responded to the "accidental injury" at his home in the Frayser neighborhood. This is according to a press release from the Memphis Police Department, as reported by People.

Dog Allegedly Shot His Owner In Bed On Accident

In the wee hours of the morning, the man's dog allegedly got its paw stuck in a gun trigger. This caused it to fire, grazing the man's leg. Once officers arrived at the home on Whitney Avenue, they got his side of the story. He claimed that his pit bull puppy named Oreo hopped on the bed, which was where the gun supposedly was.

First responders took the man to the hospital, and luckily, he wasn't in critical condition. The bullet only grazed his upper left thigh. Strangely, the woman who was in bed with him was nowhere to be found, along with the gun. She allegedly left the scene with the gun after the incident. Still, the cops managed to find shell casings on the "front room floor."

Why was a gun sitting on their mattress? And why did his female friend leave with the weapon? There's still a lot of mystery surrounding this case, and perhaps Oreo was never responsible in the first place. You would think that she, in fear for his health, would stay with him as he went to the hospital.

For now, this is all the information that we know about this case. It's a strange one, so hopefully, more information will come to light as the investigation continues. The Memphis Police Department has now used this incident to encourage gun owners to safely store their weapons.

The man's weapon shouldn't have had the safety off, nor should it have been sitting on the bed like that with bullets in the chamber. Keep them away from children, especially your dogs. Hopefully, Oreo won't face any charges for the incident, and he won't have to serve time in puppy jail.
