When you're driving, a lot of things can go wrong. Whether that be a plain old crash or something just straight... annoying. Potholes or constant red lights—the type of thing that could affect your car if you keep facing them all the darn time.
While these are the common things, a less common one is facing 1 million bees as you're cruising down the interstate... although we're not quite sure where that factors in on the whole "devastating" vs. "annoying" thing.
In any case, it's caused part of Interstate 40 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to be closed for hours. As reported by the New York Post, at around 11 am local time on Friday, April 17, a truck carrying many hives of bees overturned. The truck was heading toward the Henley Street exit when it crashed, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Drivers who were stuck near the crash almost experienced a bee-nado. But they were told to stay inside their cars. Beekeepers were seen helping out in the cleanup effort.
This is because the bees did what bees do. They were all clumped up together alongside the wreckage and the nearby roadway.

A Spokesperson Narrated the Bees' Swarm on Social Media
Mark Nagi, a spokesperson for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, posted periodic updates on X about the bees.
His first post began, "The ramp from I-40 East to Henley Street is currently closed. A truck carrying a load of bees crashed, and now the bees have escaped and are swarming the area."
His next post said, "The ramp... is back open, but the truck is destroyed, and the bees are ... well ... buzzing." He added, "Unless you are dressed in this outfit, please stay in your vehicles in this area", posting a picture of a beekeeper's outfit for the avoidance of doubt.
Luckily, there were no injuries reported in the incident. Officials haven't said the reasons behind the crash. And the highway has now been reopened.
We're happy things are now fixed and that no one was injured. Things could have gone much worse. This situation is just like something out of 9-1-1.
