Get excited, Tennessee! It's that time of year when all of the beautiful fall colors are just around the corner. The color changes coinciding with the decreasing temperatures are really something to look forward to after months of sweating outside in the bright sunshine all summer long. According to this handy map, you can track the fall leaf color progression from now until the end of November to see when it will be at its peak all over the country. It looks like everywhere will be past its fall peak by the time Thanksgiving rolls around.
For folks up in Nashville, Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, expect to see the leaves change in early October. By late October they will be at their peak, meaning that is probably the time to plan a visit to the Smoky Mountains at their fall finest. As usual, those peak colors in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park will be to die for. Even at lower elevations, you'll be able to take in the lovely mountain range during the most colorful season of the year. You could also just take a leisurely afternoon drive along the Natchez Trace Parkway and get your fill of all of the pretty colors along the way.

Beautiful autumn colors will be at their peak in mid-October over in North Carolina ,so that would be the perfect time to plan a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway or hit the hiking trails up to Clingmans Dome before its too cold. All that fall foliage along the Appalachian Trail will give you some stunning photos of sugar maple, American beech, dogwood, red maple, scarlet oak, hickories and yellow birch trees.
By early November, all of East Tennessee's foliage will be past its peak so make sure you take advantage of your time outside next month to really appreciate all of the beautiful fall colors.
