Authorities arrested Kaine Villarreal, 19, and Lane Burch, 18, on charges of 'terroristic threat' in Kyle, Texas, on Wednesday. According to the Kyle Police Department, the pair approached two children walking home from Negley Elementary after school at around 3:20 pm. Authorities have confirmed their ages as 7-years-old and 9-years-old.

The incident rattled the elementary school students enough that they allegedly called their parents immediately afterward. The parents then alerted the Kyle Police Department. When officers tracked down the teens, they said they were "repeating a TikTok prank."

Local news outlet MySanAntonio explains that the prank seems to be an isolated case, and the teens didn't try their antics at any other campus before heading to Negley Elementary.

Per a report by the New York Post, the school district sent a letter to Negley Elementary School parents. The letter reportedly praises the quick thinking of the young students.

'We are glad the students are OK, and we are proud of them for doing the right thing by immediately reporting this to their parents. Please remember to continue to reinforce teaching your children about stranger danger,' the letter stated.

TikTok Has Made Headlines Many Times Already In 2025

TikTok has made the news many times recently after the US banned and subsequently unbanned the social media platform in less than 24 hours. While many were happy that the removal of the platform was a temporary affair, others were less excited at the news.

One man even allegedly set a strip mall on fire over TikTok. Police arrested a 19-year-old from Wisconsin in connection with a blaze in Fond du Lac. When authorities apprehended the suspect, he reportedly explained that it was in retaliation for talks of a TikTok ban. The teenager allegedly started the blaze at around 1:00 am, and nobody was hurt as the building was empty. After conducting a search, firefighters reportedly cut a gap in the building's walls to stop the flames from spreading.
