Teenage Wrestling Star Dies Following E-Bike Crash in New Jersey

Teenage wrestling star Chase Sudano died after an e-bike crash involving a UPS truck in New Jersey, leaving the local community in mourning.

A teenage wrestling standout has tragically died following an electric bike crash involving a UPS truck in New Jersey.

Chase Sudano, a sophomore wrestler at St. Augustine High School, was killed in the collision on June 16.

Authorities say Sudano was riding his e-bike when the accident occurred at an intersection in Southampton Township.

According to reports, Sudano was traveling east when his electric bike collided with the right rear side of a UPS truck heading south through the intersection of Tranquility Court and North Firelane Road.

The impact reportedly threw the teenager from the bike, causing fatal injuries.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.

UPS expressed its condolences following the tragedy.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic accident in Southampton Township, NJ. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones," the company said in a statement. "We are fully cooperating with authorities to understand what happened."

Officials have not yet released additional details as investigators continue their work.

Wrestling Community Pays Tribute

Sudano was widely regarded as one of the rising talents in New Jersey high school wrestling.

According to the Courier-Post, he was a District 29 wrestling champion and compiled 65 career victories across his first two seasons at St. Augustine.

He was also a member of Pennsylvania's River Wrestling Club. This is where many of the region's top young wrestlers train and develop their skills.

Following news of his death, tributes poured in from across the wrestling community.

"This one hits close to home for a large part of the New Jersey wrestling community, including us," the hosts of the New Jersey Chat Mat podcast said on social media.

"We had the pleasure of having Chase on our show and it was nothing but laughs before, during and after filming. We will continue to remember Chase in that manner, a super laid back and funny kid who was well liked by all."

"Our sincere condolences to the Sudano family will never be enough to help ease the unimaginable pain that they are going through. Chase, you're the man. We're gonna miss you buddy."

St. Augustine wrestling coach Bill Ward also remembered Sudano fondly. He described the teenager as "the type of kid who always had a smile on his face and he'd put one on your face as well."
