Not only did the authorities discover the teen's dead body at the scene, but five other partygoers were injured. The LAPD Lt. Guy Golan spoke to KTLA and revealed some unknown altercation "resulted in multiple shots fired."
Some witnesses saw the terrifying situation unfold. The suspect got into a heated argument while being escorted off the premises before they opened fire at an outside crowd. They managed to fatally injure 16-year-old Sah-Dell Roberts who died on scene.
Shooting At VIP Mansion Party Kills Teenager
The shooter also wounded five Hispanic men between the ages of 19 and 34. Luckily, all five injured men survived after first responders took them to a local hospital. The bad news is that the authorities don't know who the suspect is, and they are still on the loose.
According to the police, they haven't considered it "a problem location," as Lt. Golan explained. He described the event that took place at the VIP mansion as a "flyer party." Although this house has hosted many parties such as this, Saturday's incident seems to be an odd one. "Maybe a couple of radio calls in the past," Lt. Golan told the outlet, "but nothing like this."
Some witnesses captured video footage of the chaos that ensued after the suspect began shooting. Instagram user 'drider42' posted such a video, showing the guests running from the house in a panic. One voice in the video shouted "Somebody's dead" as witnesses gathered outside.
Cops arrived on the scene later in the video as more and more attendees fled. More footage showed someone injured on the ground as first responders surrounded them.
"Me and others did what we could," the Instagram user wrote in the caption. "Helping the police, checking on people—but nothing changes the fact that a kid lost his life over some senseless drama.
According to the user, as per the Daily Mail, Rage Parties threw the party. According to Booking.com, it costs $2,100 a night to rent this property.
In response to the deadly altercation, they posted a statement on their social media page. "We are absolutely devastated by the events that took place last night. Our hearts go out to everyone affected and their families."
They also mentioned how the suspect harmed one of their founders and a member of their security team. Rage Parties ended the message by saying they would "continue to provide updates as we learn more."
