Second Teen Arrested in Connection To Murder of Rapper's Son
The teen, named Jermiesia Franklin, was just 16 years old at the time of the murder, according to a September 10 report from XXL. The report also adds that Franklin is facing a slew of charges in relation to the shooting. Including two counts of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery. A second-degree murder charge for discharging a firearm. As well as charges of tampering with or fabricating evidence. For allegedly swiping Houston Jr's phone after the shooting (via XXL).
The second-degree murder charge stems from a separate shooting incident where she used a firearm during the "commission of a dangerous felony."
Franklin is being held on a $5 million bond in Memphis' Shelby County Jail.
The first arrest made in connection with Houston Jr's shooting was another teen girl. 19-year-old, Talia Jones. Authorities swept Jones up in Minnesota back in July 2025 for her role in the shooting that led to the death of the rap star's son. Jones is also facing a slew of charges for her role in the shooting. Like Franklin, Jones also faces charges of aggravated robbery and assault. However, there are no murder charges on the docket for Jones, as the police believe it was Franklin who took the fatal shot that took Houston Jr's life.
The police found the rap star's son dead after responding to a shooting in January 2025. However, they have not revealed what the motive behind the shooting was.
At the time of writing, Project Pat has not released a statement about the shooting of his son.
Jones and Franklin will be co-defendants when their trial begins this Monday (September 21).
Under Tennessee law, both teens could face life in prison if convicted.
