A teenage girl was reportedly arrested on February 11 for allegedly planning a Valentine's Day mass shooting at her high school. Eighteen-year-old Trinity Shockley was "charged with conspiracy to commit murder and threatening to commit terrorism, among other offenses. She was allegedly planning a shooting at Mooresville High School [in Indiana] on Friday," per dailymail.co.uk.

Shockley reportedly posted concerning messages on social media about what she intended to do. "'Parkland part two,' one of the messages read. 'I've been planning this for a year,'" according to indystar.com. She was apparently referring to a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2017. Seventeen people lost their lives in that incident and 17 were hurt. The shooting that Shockley was allegedly planning would have taken place seven years to the day after the Parkland high school tragedy.
From the contents of her room and her social media posts, Shockley seemed to have an intense interest in violence and in mass killers like Nikolas Cruz, who committed the Parkland school shooting, according to indystar.com.
Law Enforcement Acted Quickly After Receiving A Tip About Trinity Shockley
Police got a tip from the FBI about Shockley's intentions on Tuesday, according to the New York Post. They searched her home. She was taken into custody and held without bond.
She Reportedly Sought Help With Mental Health Issues
Indystar.com reported that "A school official corroborated to police that Shockley had sought mental health resources since freshman year but her father barred the teen from getting help. Two weeks after turning 18, officials said, Shockey signed up for mental health assistance."
Shockley Was Badly Hurt By An Alleged Drunken Driver Three Years Ago While Crossing The Street
Shockley sustained multiple injuries in the serious 2022 car accident, including "a fractured femur, fractured arm, sprained ACL, two brain contusions and a web compression fracture," according to dailymail.co.uk. In a bizarre twist to this case, her hometown's schools raised money to assist Shockley after the accident.
Her Aunt Called Shockley 'Outgoing'
Trinity Shockley's aunt, Angela Altmeyer, described the girl, who lives with her single father, as "outgoing" back in 2022. "She just wants to go, go, go. She's always on the move," Altmeyer said per the outlet via Fox 59.
