When you offer something as a favor, do you really expect the other person to pay up for that favor? Well, this teacher did after they allegedly offered a student a ride to and from school before asking for gas money.

The mother of this student spoke up about the situation on Mumsnet, a forum for moms based in the UK. She revealed that a teacher offered her son a lift to school and declined gas money at the start. This has been going on for a few terms, and at the end of each one, the mom sends a gift to the teacher as thanks.
Teacher Requests Gas Money For Giving Student A Lift After Offering Free Rides
It's apparently not enough for this teacher, as the mom alleges she sent a message asking for cash. The teacher claimed that it's getting more expensive now that her own son just got his first car. According to People, the teacher is her neighbor and teaches at the boy's school, so they're going the same way anyway.
The teacher's favors have been a blessing to the mother who is caring for her elderly father and lives 30 minutes away from the school. "The afternoon pickup requires [me] leaving home at 2:30 p.m., making it impossible to commit to any big work trips or projects or get to and from my Dad's house in time," she revealed in a follow-up post. "It's a tricky situation. I am grateful for the lifts."
After the teacher's wild request, the mother asked for her to send bank details to send her the gas money. Instead, the teacher gave her own son's bank information. "So effectively she has decided that she wants someone to subsidise her [son's] new car and that someone is me."
On top of that, the teacher's son drives to a completely different school, so it seems unrelated. "If she had given me her own bank details, I would've just paid it," the mom confessed. "Despite feeling that she should've asked me initially- not a year into this. But being given her [son's] bank details has made me really mad."
The mom then described the situation as feeling "like a shakedown." After then explaining how ill her father is and how she lost her mom recently, she asked the forum for their opinions. The majority of readers voted nearly 90% for the mother being unreasonable, which was shocking even to me.
There were many truthful statements in the replies from moms who believed it was right to give the money. Not only that, but a lot of them found it strange that the teacher was giving the student lifts to school.
