Juanita Forehand, 22, faces a battery charge following allegations that she threw the scissors at a female student, striking her in the back.

An investigation by the Bay County Sheriff's Office also uncovered allegations that Forehand had previously thrown objects at students on several occasions.

Teacher Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Scissors at Student

Deputies arrested Forehand, a teacher at Rutherford High School in Panama City, Florida, on October 16 following an investigation into the incident.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office began investigating on October 14 after receiving reports of the alleged classroom incident.

Deputies interviewed several students and witnesses, who reportedly described a pattern of similar behavior involving the teacher.

According to investigators, Forehand had previously thrown objects toward students in an apparent attempt to get their attention.

Witnesses claimed they saw the scissors fall to the ground behind the female student after Forehand allegedly threw them.

One witness specifically told investigators that the scissors struck the student in the back.

The investigation suggested that Forehand had used similar methods on several previous occasions, raising further concerns about her conduct in the classroom.

School District Responds to Allegations Against Florida Teacher

Authorities have not confirmed whether the student suffered any injuries or required medical treatment following the incident.

Deputies subsequently arrested Forehand and booked her into the Bay County Jail on a battery charge.

The allegations have also prompted a response from Bay District Schools, which confirmed that it was cooperating with the investigation.

"The safety and well-being of our students are always our highest priority, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation," the district said in a statement.

"Out of respect for the ongoing process, we are unable to provide additional details at this time."

School officials have not publicly confirmed whether Forehand remains employed at Rutherford High School or whether the district has placed her on administrative suspension.

The criminal case remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about any potential disciplinary action against the teacher.
