Taylor Swift, Kenny Loggins and Others Announced in Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2026

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced the inductees in its Class of 2026. They are a diverse and extremely impressive group. Taylor Swift, Alanis Morisette, Kenny Loggins, Walter Afanasieff, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, KISS members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, and Terry Britten & Graham Lyle will be receiving this prestigious honor, per Variety. According to the outlet, "Swift enters the hall as its second-youngest inductee ever, and the youngest woman, at 36."

The Induction and Awards Gala will take place in New York at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on June 11.

Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame Lauded the New Inductees

Nile Rodgers, chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, issued a statement noting the value and cultural importance of what these and scores of other songwriters do. Their talent, creativity, and intense dedication to their craft drive the music industry and delight listeners around the globe. The output of these gifted individuals is unique and incomparable.

Rodgers' statement said, "The music industry is built upon the incredible talent of songwriters who create unforgettable songs. Without their artistry, there would be no recorded music, concert experiences, or engaged fans. Everything originates from the song and its creator."

Highlights of Each Inductee's Career

These songwriters have penned hit after hit. Kenny Loggins wrote "Footloose" and "What a Fool Believes," which became a success for the Doobie Brothers. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "Hero" were smashes for Mariah Carey, courtesy of Walter Afanasieff.

Alanis Morissette's classic album Jagged Little Pill featured fan-favorite tracks like "You Oughta Know." Taylor Swift gave us "Love Story" and "Blank Space." Tina Turner's signature song, "What's Love Got to Do With It" was the creation of Terry Britten and Graham Lyle. From Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS came "Rock and Roll All Nite." "Single Ladies" was a Beyonce hit from Christopher "Tricky" Stewart.
