Taylor Sheridan wants in at the Dutton Ranch after sitting out Season 1 of the spinoff. Although Sheridan created Beth and Rip in Yellowstone, he hasn't been involved in their latest adventures.

The characters left Montana and Sheridan behind for the Dutton Ranch spinoff. But one of those things appears to be changing. Kelly Reilly confirmed that Sheridan wants to play larger role in the spinoff.
"I think Taylor is going to be involved as far as some story ideas as well. Which is great," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I feel excited about season two because I want it to be better. I want it to be great. I'm excited to get my hands dirty after a bit of time to digest what we've just done."
It's been a weird experience for Reilly, who was used to Sheridan calling the shots. Things have also felt daunting at times. She explained, "There was a moment where we were trying to figure out, how do we do this without him?"

"That's what season one of this was. And now we realize that we've got it a little bit because of the work we've done with him and because of the gifts of these characters he'd given us," she also said. "And he's really proud of us for doing it."
According to Reilly, Sheridan is already involved in the conversation of what the next season may be. Meanwhile, Reilly and Cole Hauser served as executive producers for the spinoff.
While Sheridan, 56, was less involved, Reilly and Hauser, 51, stepped up as executive producers on Dutton Ranch. "It was more responsibility, to be quite honest, which I think Kelly and I took on and enjoyed, for the most part," Hauser told People.
"We put a lot of work into the continuation of the show with [director, cinematographer and executive producer] Christina Alexandra Voros, with [showrunner] Chad Feehan and everybody else that was part of it."
"We've lived with these characters," Reilly also told the outlet. "It doesn't mean we know everything about them, but there was a handing over the reins to us, to a certain extent, which lends us to find our own voice and opinion about them.
"We feel a responsibility to honor them and bring them forward," she said.
