Taylor Sheridan Explains How 'The Madison' Exceeded His Expectations

Taylor Sheridan is a titan in the current television ecosystem. He is enjoying unprecedented success with compelling dramas about the contemporary American West like Yellowstone, Landman, and The Madison. And the guy is not taking all the credit, either. He is humbly deferring to the hard-working professionals behind the scenes who bring his ideas, characters, environments, and stories to life.

During the premiere of The Madison in New York on Monday, March 9, Sheridan "gave a rare speech and thanked the show's production designer, casting director, composer, editors and producers," per People. Sheridan usually likes to keep a low profile. But on that night, he stepped out in front of the cameras and made sure he expressed his gratitude to those who earned it.

He Generously Put Others Front and Center

At the premiere, which took place at storied Lincoln Center, Taylor Sheridan definitely spread the kudos around. He shared, "I don't make anything. I write things down and then I bring together a cast and a crew and I ask them to go make it," the series creator said. "And trucking cameras across rivers and up mountains. So I have a chance here to do what I don't get to do often, which is call them out and thank them personally for their sacrifice and their commitment."

Sheridan Warmly Thanked the Show's Director

Sheridan is highly impressed with the director of The Madison, Christina Voros. The two had already collaborated before on a pair of blockbuster TV series, 1883 and Yellowstone. It sounds like Voros is bringing Sheridan's vision to the small screen more ably than he ever thought possible.

He said at the event, "No one came here to listen to me. They want to see the movie stars. So I'm going to bring you some movie stars out. But before I do that, with this project, I had to turn it over to one person and trust that one person to execute my vision and take this on. And I'm a big believer that when you find a talent that understands your voice, you need to surrender to that talent."

Sheridan continued, "And so Christina Voros... she's here tonight. I'd love to call her out on stage and let you guys show her your appreciation. I think you'll see that she exceeded even my wildest expectations."
