As the country continues to deal with the onogoing cyclosporiasis outbreak, Taylor Farms is at the center of another food recall.

The food supplier announced yesterday, Aug. 9, that it is recalling its products containing jalapeños. This is because of a potential Salmonella contamination.
How Is Taylor Farms Affected by This Recall?
The recall comes as there is a multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeños.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a statement that Taylor Farms is recalling the products because of a voluntary recall issued by one of its suppliers, Coast Citrus Distributors. This is the same recall that affected the restaurant chain Chipotle last week.
The Taylor Farms recall includes several items sold at retailers such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. This includes Freshness Guaranteed-branded Hot (or Spicy) Pico De Gallo and Mild Pico De Gallo sold at Walmart stores.
The affected products include a range of "best if used by" dates up to and including Aug. 16, 2026.
As reported by PEOPLE, Walmart emailed a statement to the outlet regarding the recall.
"Safety is a top priority. When notified of recalls, we move swiftly to remove the impacted products from our stores and implement a sales block at our registers and online," wrote a spokesperson for the retailer. "We are working closely with our supplier, and customers who have this should discontinue use."
What Items Are Being Recalled?
Taylor Farms included the Salsa Fresca Medium, Pico de Gallo Mild and Spicy items, Salsa Roja Medium, and Pineapple Mango Salsa Mild items from Whole Foods stores in Illinois and Texas.
Also included are Fiesta Style Salad Shrimp from Trader Joe's in Texas. The grocery chain also recalled nearly 700 packages of the item from stores in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Taylor Farms also recalled items from Kroger, including Private Selection Spicy Roast Beef Sandwich, Spicy Jarlsberg Dip, and Spicy Pimento Cheese Dip. These items are sold in various states in the South and Midwest.
Pico de Gallo and Authentic Guacamole sold in Target stores under the Taylor Farms brand are also affected. A complete list of affected items and the 26 states they were distributed in can be found here.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Aug. 8 for Taylor Farms and Greencore meat and poultry products containing jalapeños possibly contaminated with salmonella/
While Taylor Farms is issuing the recall, the affected jalapeños were distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Salmonella is a bacterium that causes infections. It is caused "by eating raw or undercooked meat, poultry, and eggs or egg products, or by drinking unpasteurized milk."
Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, usually starting within 8 hours to 3 days after exposure.
While it can be life-threatening, most healthy people recover within a few days to a week without seeking medical help.
