'The Voice': Tanner Fussell Brings Some Rock 'n' Roll to Travis Tritt's 'Anymore'

For Tanner Fussell's blind audition song on The Voice, he opted for the Travis Tritt classic, "Anymore." It's '90s country at its best, earning Tritt a No. 1 hit on the charts and a CMA nomination for Video of the Year. With his long hair and gravely country voice, there was only one coach who could really teach Tanner Fussell a thing or two.

Blake Shelton was the only coach who turned his chair, impressed by Fussell's vocals and his 'rock 'n' roll edge' he brought to the song. In true Blake fashion, his first move was to go up and inspect the contestant's long hair, noting, "Now that's country right there."

Fellow coach Camila Cabello joked that she has long hair, so does that make her country too? She also admired what she called Fussell's yodeling moments from his performance.

Shelton is mildly disappointed to discover Fussell wasn't rocking a mullet under his baseball cap but was impressed by his performance nonetheless.  He notes that Travis Tritt is also one of his major influences and heroes, to which John Legend jokingly agrees, "Same." Shelton and wife Gwen Stefani even agree that the rock tones in his voice sounded very '90s, almost like Pearl Jam. With pipes like that, there was no way Shelton was letting him get away without a chair turn.

The 28-year-old is originally from Statesboro, Ga. but currently lives in Nashville. According to his website, he's been playing guitar since he was just eight years old and has been pursuing a solo career as well as performing around the South as part of the country duo Steelin' Hearts.

Fussell is the latest of the more country contestants on The Voice to join Team Blake on season 22. Previous picks include 15-year-old pop-country singer Brayden Lape, Kate Kalvach who wowed with her Kacey Musgraves performance, Katelyn and Derek Dryes (known as simply The Dryes), and Bryce Leatherwood with his memorable cover of Conway Twitty. Team Blake is shaping up nicely!
