Taco Bell's Nacho Fries have been a huge hit with Taco Bell fans ever since they temporarily hit the menu in 2018. But we always knew they would go away; and come back again since that's what brands do with "limited-edition" menu items now (ahem, Mexican Pizza). Does Taco Bell currently have nacho fries? Yes, and they are currently testing out a brand-spanking-new fries item as well. Meet the Steak White Hot Ranch Fries.
The Birth of Steak White Hot Ranch Fries
In 2018, Taco Bell started rolling out new french fries in specific areas of the United States to gauge what people wanted. They tested two items, Rattlesnake Fried and Reaper Ranch Fries.
The Rattlesnake Fries came with a big basket of nacho fries topped with nacho cheese sauce, steak, creamy jalapeño sauce, and pickled jalapeños. But if the Rattlesnake Fries didn't have enough of a bite for you, there was Reaper Ranch Fries. Named after the Carolina Reaper pepper, the fries came with the Reaper Ranch sauce or you can get a Supreme version, which means adding nacho cheese, seasoned beef, Reaper Ranch sauce, diced tomatoes, and sour cream.
From there, Taco Bell put together all the data and feedback and essentially squished the two menu items together to make Steak White Hot Ranch Fries which feature boldly seasoned fries topped with nacho cheese, White Hot ranch sauce, marinated grilled steak, sour cream, tomatoes, and shredded cheese. This is one plate of crispy fries that is not for the lactose-intolerant.
The kicker is that these fries are only available in Chicago, IL.
