Whether you are fresh off a monumental win or a soul-crushing loss, Taco Bell is gifting World Cup fans a free meal.
The popular fast-food chain has launched L.O.C.O.S., short for Loss Or Celebration Outcome Support, an "emotional support taco" campaign inspired by this summer's FIFA Club World Cup.
With patriotism abounding, Taco Bell knows that the World Cup can be a stressful (or joyous) time for soccer fans.
Instead of shying away from the emotional toll of a World Cup outcome, Taco Bell is offering fans a chance to seek comfort in free tacos.
"Fandom has a way of making every moment feel bigger. The wins feel sweeter, the stakes feel higher, and Taco Bell has always been there to support those moments," Taylor Montgomery, Taco Bell's global chief brand officer, said in a statement.
Fans can select either Celebration Mode or Support Mode, depending on their mood after a match. Then, app users can complete in-app challenges to earn rewards. The first time users play the game, they'll unlock a free taco with a qualifying purchase. App users can continue participating in weekly challenges for additional rewards and exclusive merchandise.
Additionally, the chain is hosting fan activations in Los Angeles, California, and New York City, New York, featuring free tacos, interactive experiences, and giveaways as part of the campaign.
Fast-Food Chains Offering World Cup Specials
Taco Bell is not the only fast-food chain with World Cup fever.
Domino's, McDonald's and Wendy's have all made World Cup-inspired tweaks to its menu.
For every ten-piece nugget purchase, Wendy's is offering a free additional nugget to pay homage to the 11 members of a team.
Additionally, the chain will place 11 limited-edition gold whistles at random in the Biggie Sharer Boxes via delivery from Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat.
This whistle will grant the lucky customer free Wendy's for a year. The promotion ends on July 19.
Diners who order a Big Mac or McNuggets meal through the McDonald's app will receive one of six limited-edition World Cup collectible cups.
