Hours after the shooting, and after Rupnow died of her self-inflicted gun wound on the way to the hospital, 10 police cars and a SWAT truck arrived at the shooter's neighborhood and raided her home, according to the Daily Mail. Neighbors reported the presence of police force and it has been confirmed that they used stun grenades. Minutes before, they removed the front door with stun grenades damaging the windows.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed the search that took place on Monday afternoon. According to police, Rupnow was not on their radar and had no history with law enforcement. However, investigations continue as they have yet to determine a cause. A written manifesto has been circulating across social media too. However, it has yet to be confirmed to be authentic and linked to Rupnow.
"We have been made aware of a manifesto, if you want to call it that, or some type of letter that's been posted by someone who alleged to be her," Barnes told CNN. "We haven't been able to locate that person yet, but that's something we're going to work on today." Police will go through Rupnow's belongings to track any interactions with acquaintances.
A Tragic Event
President Joe Biden called the shooting "shocking and unconscionable," demanding Congress to act immediately. "From Newtown to Uvalde, Parkland to Madison, to so many other shootings that don't receive attention - it is unacceptable that we are unable to protect our children from this scourge of gun violence," President Biden said. "We cannot continue to accept it as normal"
Law enforcement works on further investigations and new information is unveiled by the minute. Madison, Wisconsin, and the entire country are currently mourning the loss of innocent lives. Two injured have already been discharged, while two others, reportedly children, remain in critical condition. Michael Johnson, president of the Dane County Boys and Girls Club will hold a vigil at the Wisconsin State Capitol on Tuesday night.
