A man stabbed a female employee of a Nashville elementary school on April 14, and he's still on the run. 52-year-old Niurka Alfonso-Acevedo arrived to work around 6 AM at Chadwell Elementary School when the attack occurred. This is according to People, per a Metro Nashville Police spokesperson.

Alfonso-Acevedo, the school's custodian, was found dead by another employee in the parking lot. They immediately called 911 to alert the authorities of the body. It didn't take long for the MNPD to suspect 54-year-old Candido Raul Rubio-Perez as the killer.
He was the victim's estranged husband, and detectives believed he was waiting for Alfonso-Acevedo to arrive at school that morning. The authorities are now trying to track down the estranged husband, but there's currently no word on his whereabouts.
"Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463," said the MNPD per WSMV. "Callers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 in homicide cases."
Reports say that the victim had worked as the school's custodian since 2024. Since the crime occurred before school on a Monday, the school announced to parents in a letter that they would relocate classes for that day. This was in an effort to lock down the parking lot for the crime scene. By the time students arrived that Monday, they had buses waiting to take students to a nearby middle school.
ABC News shared Metro Nashville Public Schools' statement to the community. "Our thoughts are with the victim's family, friends, and the entire Chadwell Elementary community during this time of loss," it read.
Luckily, they confirmed that the man at large was no threat to anyone at the school. "There is no ongoing threat to the safety of students or staff." This is largely due to how targeted the attack was. Police now want to charge Rubio-Perez with criminal homicide.
As the investigation continues, we may find out more about the killer's motives and if it was the estranged husband's doing. Seeing as he is missing and not cooperating with the investigation, Rubio-Perez is likely guilty.
