Man Cosplaying Chucky Doll Terrorizes Philly Locals
Philadelphia police are asking for the public's help in identifying and apprehending a man who is wearing a Chucky Doll-style mask while chasing innocent bystanders around the neighborhood.
According to a Tuesday (August 18) report from the New York Post, the suspect at large is believed to be an African-American male between the ages of 16 and 20.
The masked man also appeared to be filming his encounters with his victims. Appearing to be looking to score a viral moment.
Philadelphia Police Captain Jason Smith also told reporters at a presser Monday that the man who was wearing the mask also visited a local Dunkin Donuts store just after 5:20 am that morning. However, he was refused service by the employees because of his "erratic" behaviour.
The assailant allegedly targeted six people in a span of 20 minutes. Including one woman who was jogging when he asked if she was "ready to die?" Smith added that the woman injured her leg after she took off running and "screaming for help."
Woman Recalls Brief Encounter With Masked Man
ABC6 caught up with one woman who encountered the man, named Jameka. Jameka says that she saw the crazed man getting ready to accost a jogger who was wearing headphones by a nearby coffee shop in the area. Thankfully, she was able to alert the jogger before he could attack her.
"I started to wave at her from across the intersection and say, 'Hey, there's someone behind you, look behind you.' And she heard me, and then she started to run away," Jameka recalled.
Jameka's brave gesture nearly came at a cost. The Chucky Doll cosplayer tried to make his way into the coffee shop. But he could not gain access to the store. So he turned his attention to Jameka. Thankfully, she was able to thwart his attack by kicking him in the chest.
After having the altercation with the masked assailant, Jameka says that something just seemed "off" with him.
"He just seemed so disoriented about what his goals actually were," she added. "I had bags; he wasn't reaching for those. It didn't seem like he had a clear goal to like actually get in La Colombe to do anything, so I was like OK, well, let's see if you can fight, and he couldn't."
As of Tuesday, the masked man remains at large.
