According to WCMH, Bruce Reginald Foster III is currently in custody after he was arrested at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5. The U.S. Marshalls found Foster in the Weinland Park neighborhood in Columbus, just 12 hours after he allegedly carried the mass shooting that took the life of one individual.
In what is described as a "targeted type of attack" by New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones, the mass shooting allegedly carried out by Foster took place at around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4 at the KDC/One building in Smith's Mill Road North in New Albany, Ohio.
Police stated that there was no confrontation or altercation before the shooting. No motive behind Foster's alleged shooting is known at the time. According to Police Chief Jones, Bruce Reginald Forster III worked previously at the KDC/One facility and spent hours before he allegedly carried out the shooting. Footage shows Foster entering and leaving the facility.
"This is a fluid situation, were only hours into this, a lot of this information can change," Jones said earlier on Wednesday. "But we don't have any reason to believe that anybody was an accomplice by helping him get here or escape."
Mass Shooting Victims
As a result of the shooting, one unidentified person died inside the building and five others were injured. They were rushed to a local hospital, with their current condition being unknown. Approximately 20 people were escorted out of the building following the shooting. Around 150 people were inside when the shooting took place on Tuesday.
"This has been a very tragic situation," Jones said. "This is something that we hope that would never happen in our community. But we prepare for it, and this is where we are now."
The KDC/One facility will remain closed for the foreseeable future while the investigation continues.
