'Superfan': Everything We Know About CBS' Country Star-Heavy Game Show

Shania Twain is among the acts who'll select their own 'Superfan.'

Shania Twain, Little Big Town and Kelsea Ballerini are among the popular acts that'll crown their ultimate "stan" on the brand-new competition series Superfan. The show premiered Aug. 9 on CBS, with the first episode centered on LL Cool J.

According to a press release, "the musical game show will feature contestants vying in multiple rounds of play to prove they are their favorite artist's most devoted supporter. In each one-hour episode, a different musical artist will select one deserving superfan to win a once-in-a-lifetime prize."

Featured acts will select the winner through a lip-sync battle between the final two contestants.

"There's too many talent shows. It's too competitive. Some of us are not good at anything except loving the artist we love," Keltie Knight, creator, executive producer and co-host, told the The Associated Press. "This is not a talent show. This is a talent-less show."

The artists will perform live medleys of their hits on each episode, upping the entertainment factor for viewers while creating a special memory for contestants.

"I want the fans to have this opportunity to shine and to win, but it's just as much for the artists. I want the artists to have a safe place, like those amazing MTV Unplugged sessions that were just like Kurt Cobain in a sweater and he's just playing for fans and he's able to look them in the eye and tell a story," Knight told the AP. "That's the vibe we're going for."
