Alshon Jeffery, a former Super Bowl winner with the Philadelphia Eagles, has been arrested for insurance fraud, per TMZ. According to California law, insurance fraud is a felony, carrying a prison sentence of up to five years and/or a fine of up to double the amount of the fraud itself.

It's worth noting that Alshon has since been released following his arrest, which took place at 8 am local time on Wednesday, April 15.

Alshon Jeffery Enjoyed a Nine-Year NFL Career
Alshon was drafted by the Chicago Bears as a second-round pick in 2012. He spent five years with the franchise, making his lone Pro Bowl appearance as a sophomore. As a rookie, Alshon suited up for 10 games, starting six of them. The talented wide receiver ended his debut year with 24 receptions for 367 total yards, scoring three touchdowns.
In his second season with the Bears, Alshon played in 16 games, recording 89 receptions and 1421 receiving yards. He scored seven touchdowns. His production stayed steady throughout his remaining years with Chicago.
Alshon moved to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017, winning a Super Bowl the same year. During that season, he played in 16 regular-season games, recording 57 receptions and nine touchdowns on 789 receiving yards. Alshon played in three of Philadelphia's postseason games during their run to the Super Bowl, recording three touchdowns in the process.
In 2020, Alshon played his final season of professional football at the age of 30. He suited up for seven games, scoring one touchdown and making six total receptions.
