‘The View’ Co-Host’s Son Nabbed for Allegedly Trespassing

Sunny Hostin of 'The View' recently went to bat for her son, who allegedly trespassed. That included reminding cops of his elite education.

Sunny Hostin of The View never shies away from a controversy. Sometimes she even ignites one. In fact, she ruffled a few feathers recently by saying that she feels "unsafe" when she sees neighborhoods displaying lots of American flags. That drew quite a fierce backlash from many. Nevertheless, Hostin is at the center of another firestorm for literally and legally defending her Harvard grad son, Gabriel, 24. (She is "a lawyer and former federal prosecutor," per People.)

He was reportedly stopped for allegedly trespassing. Actually, Gabriel was allegedly caught jogging in New York in a no-trespassing zone, per the outlet. Therefore, Gabriel received a citation from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

What Gabriel Hostin Allegedly Did

Per TMZ, on Tuesday, June 16, Gabriel "was accused of trespassing on the right-of-way of the active railroad tracks." Equally important, Sunny Hostin, given her legal credentials, is acting as her son's attorney. She penned a letter on his behalf to Westchester Assistant District Attorney Amanda Greene, per the New York Post.

It said in part, "[Gabriel Hostin] is a 2025 Harvard University graduate with no criminal history or prior contact with the criminal justice system. He is an avid runner and former Junior Olympian track athlete who was in the area training."

She also argued in the letter that a no trespassing sign was "not visible to my client as he entered the property." Additionally, there was a gate on the property that was allegedly open at the time. It supposedly should have been closed.

Additionally, Sunny Hostin wrote in her letter, "The facts demonstrate that this incident resulted from an honest mistake rather than any criminal intent. The open gates, the placement of the warning sign, and the officer's own acknowledgment that the gate should have been closed all support that conclusion."

And she ended the letter by requesting dismissal of the case against her son.

Bodycam Footage of the Incident Was Released

In that footage, per the Post, Sunny Hostin allegedly urged the cops on scene to be lenient with her boy. The TV celebrity said, "He's not a kid who's ever in trouble. It's an innocent mistake."

An MTA officer reportedly says to Gabriel Hostin, "...{I]t is an arrestable offense. I want to make that clear, okay? Where you were on the tracks is an arrestable offense,"

Gabriel is slated to appear in court on Friday, July 31, per the Post.
