On Monday, December 16, a deadly shooting took place at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. So far, five people have died (including the gunman) and several people have been injured.

In a strange twist of fate, a team of medics were not too far away from the deadly school shooting. The medics, who work for the Madison Police Department, were doing training near the school. According to Police Chief Shon Barnes, as soon as they heard about the shooting, they sprang into action.
"They left the training center immediately and came down here — and doing in real time what they were actually practicing for," Barnes said at a news conference.
The medics had been training three miles from Abundant Life Christian School. They ended up giving life-saving measures to seven people. These injured people were then transported to a local hospital.
"That's why training is so important and making sure that we can provide the best possible training and the best possible response for our community members," the police chief said.
Reports of an active shooter surfaced this morning.

"Today around 10:57 a.m., our officers were responding to a call of an active shooter at the Abundant Life Christian School here in Madison," he said at a press briefing. "When officers arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds."
In response to the deadly school shooting, the school asked for prayers. "Prayers Requested! Today, we had an active shooter incident at ALCS. We are in the midst of following up. We will share information as we are able. Please pray for our Challenger Family," the
school posted.Meanwhile, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Ever also wrote, "We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information and are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond."
The tragedy drew responses from several other politicians as well.
Sen. Ron Johnson: "My sincere condolences and prayers for all the victims of the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School. I will continue to closely monitor the situation," Sen. Ron Johnson said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Senator Tammy Baldwin posted on X, "I have been briefed on the active shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison and my heart goes out to all those impacted. My office is in touch with local and state officials, and I stand ready to assist law enforcement and anyone affected."
