Stream Sturgill Simpson’s New Album, ‘A Sailor’s Guide to Earth’

Sturgill Simpson is giving fans the chance to preview his highly-anticipated new album, A Sailor’s Guide to Earth, before its officially released on April 15.

Beginning today, April 8, fans can head to participating independent record stores for a special listening party to mark the album’s release. Those who attend the special events will get to hear the vinyl version of the album and can also purchased limited edition canvas tote bags. You can find a full list of participating record stores here.

Simpson’s latest project was written as a musical guide to life for his firstborn son, who was born in 2014. Instead of opting to work with longtime friend and producer Dave Cobb, the alt-country star decided to produce his newest project himself. He also recruited Grammy Award-winning recording engineer David Ferguson, who is known for his extensive work with Johnny Cash, and funk-soul band The Dap-Kings, who’ve played with everyone from the late Amy Winehouse to Michael Bublé.

If you can’t make it out to a record store to hear Simpson’s newest release for yourself, you’re in luck. The full LP is currently streaming online for a limited time, so take a listen while you can.
