Elon Musk has become prominent in President Donald Trump's second administration. He is a senior advisor and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Space seems to be a priority for him. His famed spaceflight organization, SpaceX, is expected to bring Williams and Wilmore back home later in March. He suggested that "the Biden administration 'abandoned' them for political reasons.'"
Musk also reportedly stated that the previous administration nixed his offer to transport Williams and Wilmore back to Earth sooner. They supposedly did not want Trump and his associates to 'look good.'
Astronaut Barry Wilmore Appeared To Confirm Elon Musk's Statements About The Biden Administration
The pair held a press conference on March 4. Wilmore reportedly labeled Musk's assertion about the Biden administration "absolutely factual."
Wilmore added, "I can only say that Mr Musk, what he says, is absolutely factual. So I believe him. I don't know all those details, and I don't think any of us really can give you the answer that maybe that you would be hoping for."
The astronauts were supposedly not aware of what the outlet called "what happened behind closed doors."
The Stranded Astronauts Were Only Supposed To Be In Space For Eight Days
The astronauts arrived at the International Space Station on June 6, 2024, aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. It encountered numerous technical glitches. That prompted NASA to veto having Williams and Wilmore return home on it. The renowned space agency brought Starliner home empty six months ago.
Bill Nelson, a NASA administrator at that time, reportedly said this. "I can tell you unequivocally, from a personal standpoint, that politics has not played any part in this decision. It absolutely has nothing to do with it."
Wilmore Apparently Strongly Approves Of President Trump And Elon Musk
Barry Wilmore reportedly made his opinion of President Trump and Elon Musk very clear, per the outlet. "I can tell you, at the outset, all of us have the utmost respect for Mr. Musk, and obviously respect and admiration for our President of the United States, Donald Trump."
He went on, "We appreciate them, we appreciate all they do for us, for human spaceflight, for our nation. We're thankful that they're in the positions they're in. The words they've said — politics — I mean, that's part of life. We understand that, and there's an important reason why we have a political system, and the political system that we do have. And we're behind it 100 percent.
