Storm Chasers Give Their Honest Opinion Of New 'Twisters' Trailer

The long-awaited sequel to Twister, Twisters is on the way and tearing up movie theaters this summer. It looks like an epic summer disaster film, but what do actual storm chasers have to say about the upcoming film? Well, if you thought they'd bash the film for not being realistic, then you thought wrong.

Real-life storm chasers seem just as pumped to get some popcorn and watch fake tornadoes as they are willing to go out and put their lives on the line chasing the real thing.

What Do Actual Storm Chasers Have To Say About The 'Twisters' Trailer?

Doesn't get more credible than Ryan Hall. The guy has an entire YouTube channel dedicated to analyzing the weather! (But also, if you have a healthy level of weather-induced anxiety, I'd probably watch Hall in moderation.)

Perhaps not quite a direct "Chaser," but this captures the general hype that's been making the rounds all over the internet!

Not Everyone Is Jazzed About The 'Twisters' Trailer

You have your resident naysayers, of course. It's certainly a choice to use a Drake GIF to express disappointment, but that's an entirely separate corner of the entertainment space.

Your "BUT THE ORIGINAL WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER!" screamers, naturally.

I never liked disaster movies. Quite frankly, I think most of them are awful — and this is coming from someone who adores "So Bad, It's Good" entertainment to the fullest. For context, the last disaster flick I saw was San Andreas (which I wanted so badly to be about the video game and not the earthquake). It had some great special effects, but it was dreadfully boring. Like, miserably so. Makes me happy that we're moving away from the ol' "Put X celebrity into whatever schlock we feel like churning out because it'll make money regardless" trend in movies and shows.

Interesting characters and solid plots are what keep me invested in a story. Disaster films don't leave much room for in-depth characterization or engaging story beats because they're too busy trying to make a natural disaster look "pretty."

However.

Twisters? The recent trailer that dropped for the Universal Pictures film made me a believer. The image for this article shows the exact moment of the trailer that made me say, "...You know what? I'm here for this!" It's gonna be campy as heck, but it'll be the good brand of silly to be memorable and fun. How can you hear the line "No, I don't chase anymore," stated with the total sincerity of a grizzled war veteran and not fall in love with it? Just watch the silly tornado movie and stop taking everything so seriously. Your blood pressure will thank you!
