Song Premiere: Stephanie Erin Wittmer Goes Her Own Way on 'Pilot'

"My love is like a tumbleweed/ Wants to stay but I gotta leave/ So don't you ever wait for me/ 'Cause my love don't got no place to be," country singer-songwriter Stephanie Erin Wittmer sings on "Pilot," the latest release from her forthcoming EP of the same name.

"When I wrote these songs I wasn't really planning on singing them myself, I left my corporate job to focus on being a songwriter but as I kept writing more and more I started to really fall in love with them," Wittmer tells Wide Open Country. "I showed a handful of my demos to a couple of mentors and mentioned to them that I was thinking about just singing them myself and they were both like 'YOU SHOULD'. So, here I am. I'm excited to finally release the first batch of these songs I love so much... and there's a lot more coming down the pipeline in the future."
The Illinois-raised artist teamed up with Jeff Saenz and Beau Bedford (The Texas Gentlemen, Paul Cauthen) to record her debut EP.
"I was a fan of Beau's through his work with Paul Cauthen. He's such a talented producer and musician and an all around great guy," Wittmer says. "Getting to record with him, Jeff Saenz (another all around great guy) and the extraordinarily talented musicians that played on my record at Modern Electric was a fantastic experience. They have something really special there at that studio."

Pilot was recorded at Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Dallas, Texas.

Wittmer, who began writing songs as a teenager, was inspired to record her own songs after teaming up with friends for a bedroom electronica project.

"I had all these ideas for songs, that I just had to get out ... too many," she says in a press release. "I started writing all these country songs and realized I really love this genre."
