William Shater recently shattered his right shoulder after falling off a horse. The accident occurred toward the end of 2025. Unfortunately for the 94-year-old legend, he must undergo surgery to repair the damage.

"I ride the horses that can compete in equine skills, which is fast down and ends on a sliding stop," Shatner recently told a select group of media. "And the horse that I owned, I came off...And she had a habit of going too far, like six inches to the side. And I'm riding it. And I'm ready. And she goes [sending him flying]."
Unfortunately for Shatner, his advancing age meant that even with his decades of stuntman training, he was unable to land safely from the fall.
"I'm not a young stuntman anymore," he said. "I started to roll, but hit the dirt with my shoulder. So I wrecked my shoulder."
When speaking with the media, Shatner appeared to be at ease with the upcoming procedure. He even went as far as to explain what the surgery will entail.
You put the ball in the socket and the socket in the thing, and you come out 10 hours later, and you're pain-free," he said. "So that's what I am meandering towards."
William Shatner Suffered a Health Scare in September 2025
If you're fortunate enough to reach your mid-90s, health scares come with the territory. Shatner's recent shoulder injury comes hot on the heels of the Boston Legal star being rushed to the hospital in September 2025.
"I overindulged. I thank you all for caring but I'm perfectly fine," Shatner posted on X at the time.
Fortunately, Shatner appears to have made a full recovery from that incident. Otherwise, why would he have been riding a horse?
Of course, fans will now be waiting for an update on how his surgery goes. Procedures certainly carry more risk as you age. Despite the severity of his injury, there should be hope that the surgery is routine and that he will be back home in time to celebrate his upcoming birthday.
Shatner turns 95 on March 22. He was born in 1931.
