Lucy Davis revealed on social media that she has terminal cancer.

The actress, who is best known for her role as receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the U.K. version of The Office, shared the health update today, Aug. 11.
"The Office" Star Says It's "Too Late for Chemo"
Davis, who also starred in the cult classic Shaun of the Dead and Wonder Woman, wrote in the caption of her Instagram post that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer a year and a half ago. It has since metastasized to her bones, including her spine, right hip, and ribs.
The actress wanted to keep the prognosis to herself "for a while." However, "for various reasons," she has decided to make it public.
"The cancer is incurable, and too late for chemo," she added.
"As of now, I'm trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can," she wrote. "I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there's a lot I have learned from it, and I'm grateful for that."
Lucy Davis Implores Fans to "Get Everything Checked Out"
The Office actress also shared what led to her devastating diagnosis.
"The initial lump that I felt, wasn't a 'lump' as such; rather a kind of hard spot," she wrote. "Really tiny. I almost didn't bother getting it checked. So I guess I'm saying don't ignore anything - get everything checked out."
Although she occasionally has to use a wheelchair and that "the pain can really be something else," Davis shares that the one thing she wants friends and family to "not treat me like a sick person."
"There's nothing that will make you feel more unwell than being treated as if you're unwell," she added.
Davis shared that she is "at peace" with "whatever comes next." She explains that she can continue acting and also plans to continue her work for animal rights.
"Any and all grieving is for my family; it's far harder for them than for me," she said.
"For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well," concluded Davis. "Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally. And we all get to do it however we choose."
