Separate Homicide Case Recently Investigated in Lexington County

The incident comes just weeks after Lexington County deputies opened a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man who had been shot to death.

The victim, 43-year-old Raynard Brewington, was found in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Lake Murray.

"Mr. Brewington's body was found near his apartment building before daylight early Monday morning," Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

"We responded to the location after receiving 911 calls from people who reported they heard what they said might be gunshots."

Detectives interviewed the callers and other residents at the apartment complex as part of their investigation.

Koon also urged "anyone with any information to come forward and share tips with us".

Authorities later arrested 42-year-old Brian Vincemichael Ashford. They charged him with Brewington's murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Investigators said the two men had confronted each other after Ashford discovered they had both been involved in a relationship with the same woman.
