4 Songs You Didn't Know That Blake Shelton Wrote For Other Singers

If you are a fan of Blake Shelton - and who isn't! - then you know how versatile he is. Shelton is a great singer, performer, and a thoughtful coach on The Voice. He is a talented collaborator who has blended his gifts with those of people like Trace Adkins, Brantley Gilbert, and his wife, Gwen Stefani. But Shelton has also written many wonderful songs for other singers and brainstormed very successfully with other songwriters. Here's a look at a few of his best efforts.

'Family Feud'

This track has an interesting backstory. It was crafted by Blake Shelton with Miranda Lambert, along with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The three women comprised The Pistol Annies. "Family Feud" was on their freshman album, Hell on Heels, which dropped in 2011.

'Get Ready'

This 2020 song recorded by Pitbull had a slew of songwriters plus Shelton, per American Songwriter. In fact, there were actually six people involved, plus Pitbull himself. Quite an impressive collab! Shelton jumped in and takes part in the song, along with the legendary Joe Perry of Aerosmith, who's doing the honors on the guitar. The track is on Pitbull's album, Libertad 548.

'Over You'

A beautiful, mournful ballad. I recall Cassadee Pope singing it exquisitely on The Voice. Shelton watched her silently from his coach's chair with a sad, wistful expression on his face. He looked tremendously moved, and with ample reason. This song was very personal for him. He collaborated with his now-former wife, Miranda Lambert, on the tune. Furthermore, it subtly references two terrible tragedies in Shelton's life - the loss of his brother and father in 1990 and 2012, respectively. "Over You" won a pair of ACM honors, along with a CMA award.

'You Make It Feel Like Christmas'

Shelton and Stefani teamed up to write this song, which is on her 2017 album of the same name. He's in the video for the Yuletide tune and even lends his voice to it as well. The pair married four years later in 2021. Other tracks on her Xmas album were beloved, time-honored classics like "Silent Night" and "Let It Snow."
