After NASCAR driver Greg Biffle's death in a plane crash last year, his house was reportedly burgled. This happened just weeks after his family's death. But, in a shocking turn of events, it also looks like his bank accounts were compromised in a connected incident. And the attackers have stolen "hundreds of thousands of dollars", as reported by WBTV 3 News.
The alleged original burglary happened back in January of this year. Police reported that someone had entered the late NASCAR driver's Mooresville, North Carolina home and stolen over $30,000 in cash as well as two firearms. And, according to search warrants obtained by the outlet, there have been some shocking revelations about the case.
The alleged burglar appeared to have a knowledge of the home's layout, including surveillance camera locations. This implies that the person had previous knowledge of the property - chilling stuff. These same search warrants also claim that the family's bank accounts were tampered with.
The timeline is confusing, however. This is because issues with the bank accounts were happening even before the alleged break-in. Suspicious activity was reported on the NASCAR driver's, as well as his wife's, Cristina Grossu's, emails. These included alleged fraudulent changes to their account emails, passwords, phone numbers, and even activity with Grossu's Venmo account.

Detectives Say It Could Be an Inside Job
But, in a shocking turn of events, detectives have said that all their evidence points to it being someone they knew. They said the incidents are framed in such a way that they could be coordinated with insider knowledge of their accounts.
A statement released by the Iredell County detectives working on the case says that they are aware of a number of suspects, but cannot confirm anything at this time. "There are multiple suspects over multiple states. We can't say that they're not connected, but we're still investigating."
But, they've been making big moves to solve the case. On April 23, they executed a search warrant on a home in Lincoln County as well as a business in Mooresville in connection to the alleged break-in. But, no arrests have been made at this time.
We hope this case gets solved soon, and Biffle's family get the justice they deserve.
