"With the score 2-2, in the 96th minute, a long ball was played away from the Tenerife area and up the pitch," the Guardian reports. "De Miguel chased it into space and Owono came a long way out of his goal, jumping forward and crashing into the attacking player inside the centre circle."
Owono was shown a red card for his role in the incident. Unfortunately, the challenge left De Miguel unconscious on the ground. Players from both teams were ushering for medical assistance on the pitch.
Officials abandoned the Spanish Segunda División matchup following the collision.
"Medics managed to restore De Miguel's pulse in the ambulance and transfer him to the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz," the Guardian continued. "Tenerife said he was able to breathe unassisted and that he was stable but that he remained unconscious and in a critical condition."
