American Idol began its fifteenth and final season last week, showcasing auditions from all over the country. Among them was Shelbie Z., a small town girl from Sumiton, Ala.
Shelbie might spend most of her days as a hairdresser, exchanging gossip and shampooing hair, but the Southern sweetheart has another talent, slaying Carrie Underwood songs. With sass for days and a pristine voice with an appropriately placed growl, Shelbie wowed the judges with her rendition of Underwood's 2007 hit "Last Name".
The panel of Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick, Jr. praised her undeniable spirit, character and fight, giving her that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood.
This wasn't Shelbie's first time on a TV singing competition. You may remember seeing her on season five of The Voice as a member of Blake Shelton's team.
