According to a report by Fox 8, the aircraft crashed on Tuesday afternoon at around 5:08 PM. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Authorities believe the 1973 Cessna 310Q fixed-wing multi-engine plane departed from Harry Clever Field Airport in New Philadelphia half an hour earlier, at 4:40 PM. While the aircraft has space for six passengers, officials have not reported any other occupants.

The aircraft crashed into farm property and didn't damage any structures. Officials have not released the pilot's name pending DNA testing by the Tuscarawas County Coroner. Per the Times Reporter, the police response was 'chaotic' as the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Department received conflicting reports suggesting there were two plane crashes.

Five law enforcement agencies and more than 10 fire and rescue departments reportedly arrived at the scene. It remains unclear what caused the crash.

This Is The Second Small Plane Crash In The US In Less Than A Week

This incident is eerily similar to another plane crash that occurred on the weekend. Another small plane, which officials believe had a single occupant, crashed into a house in Brooklyn Park. The SOCOTA TBM7 plane was en route to Anoka County-Blaine Aiport in Minneapolis at the time. It departed from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa.

Early reports suggest that the person on the plane was Terry Dolan, a US bank executive. He reportedly died in the crash. The plane crash may have only killed one person, but it severely affected the lives of the house owners, too. Kenneth Tobacman and his wife, Mary Butler, explained how lucky they were to survive the incident. Butler was out walking the dog at the time, and Tobacman believes he wouldn't have been able to save either of them had they been inside.

Tobacman was eating lunch when the plane struck his house. He explained that he ran to the door when he heard a 'big boom' and the lights went out. By the time he reached the front door, the smoke was already so thick that he couldn't see. The couple explains that their only possessions after the crash are the clothes they escaped in and the dog leash.
