If you've never heard of Slim Chickens, you should know that it's more than just an alternative to Chick-Fil-A or Popeye's. They all have chicken, but Slim Chickens has its own special menu items that you should definitely try if you're ever in one of the 19 states they're located in, as well as the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
What is Slim Chickens?
Slim Chickens is a fast-casual restaurant that started in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003. Its first location quickly expanded to a second location in Rogers, and soon grew to include chicken chain restaurants in states like Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas, and many more.
They all tend to have dining rooms, and some have drive-thrus, but something that all these chicken restaurants have? Delicious chicken tenders, Buffalo wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps, chicken and waffles, and great sides like coleslaw, fried pickles, Texas toast, and so much more. Their tenders are particularly famous, and the chain's story online notes that the recipe for them features a "Southern-style buttermilk marinade," which sounds absolutely delectable.
The restaurant that is well known for its fresh chicken offerings also serves desserts in Mason jars, and offers lots of excellent dipping sauces like Slim's Sauce, cayenne ranch, Korean BBQ, mango habanero, Sriracha Garlic, alongside several others. You can even take the mason jar home!
SlimChickens.com lists all the fast-food restaurant locations and menus, and it seems like there are new restaurants all the time. The restaurant chain still seems to be growing, even in the face of a global pandemic.
Slim Chickens opened its 100th location in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 17, 2019, and new Slim Chickens locations are certainly a distinct possibility in the future. The fast-food restaurant hasn't seemed to make its way too far North in the United States just yet, but it sounds like it's only a matter of time.
