"I love you Austin. Happy Easter," reads the post's caption, written by Jeff Metcalf. The post was published on April 19 on
Facebook, 17 days after his son Austin died. Alongside his words dedicated to Austin, he shared an extract of Will Dempsey's song, "Beat You There." Specifically, he shared the first verses of the song released in 2022.I don't know why God always takes the good ones first
And man, I've tried to be strong and carry on, but damn, this hurts
And I just wish that I could talk to you again somehow, someway
Even if it's for a moment, so I can hear you say
In a following post, on Easter Sunday, Jeff shared pictures of himself having lunch with his family. Then, Austin was in his mind as well.
"Happy Easter to all. Had lunch with friends and family after church," Jeff wrote. "Celebrated Carson's birthday early. This portrait was given to me today. Hunter got a new pug puppy. I feel your presence so strongly today Austin. Been a great day. Feeling loved and blessings abundantly today."
Jeff Metcalf Escorted Out
This series of posts comes days after Jeff Metcalf was escorted out of a press conference held by Anthony's family. Dominique Alexander, the activist who represents the alleged killer's family, called Metcalf's presence at the press conference a "disrespect ot the dignity of his son."
However, Metcalf told the New York Post that he had good intentions, even hoping he would pray with Karmelo Anthony's family.
"They should have pulled me up [to the front] and said, 'We are so sorry. Our condolences.' The only thing I would have said was, 'Okay, can we pray together and show the world we're united,'" Metcalf told the outlet.
Instead, Metcalf felt "disrespected" by Alexander's words, rhetoric, and "gaslighting."
"After I leave, that Dominique ... just gaslights to s— out of me," Metcalf told the Post. "Says I'm disrespecting, I'm so disrespectful, I'm disrespecting the dignity of my son by showing up ... and I'm just like whatever, dude. My character's been assassinated. Or they've tried to assassinate my character."
Following the controversial press conference, Jeff Metcalf and his ex-wife were swatted by prank callers.
