Nyjah Huston Opens up After Suffering Serious Injuries

In an Instagram statement, Huston revealed that the accident left him unconscious and reflected on why he continues to push himself despite the risks that come with skateboarding.

"Was the plan to not end up back here for some time but here we are," he said.

"I'm sure there's tons of people see this happen again and think 'damn this dudes an idiot and never learns his lesson' or the classic 'Told ya you shoulda started wearing a helmet.'"

"Those are the people that don't understand the minds of us skateboarders and how dedicated we can be. We don't put ourselves thru the torture and pain for money or to prove anything. We do it because it fuels our daily life."

Huston went on to describe skateboarding as more than just a sport.

He said it is a lifestyle that makes him feel "the most alive" and "accepted."

Despite the severity of the injuries, the 31-year-old insisted he has no regrets about the decision that led to the accident.

According to Huston, "nothing beats life on the board."

He ended his message on a defiant note, writing: "Back at em soon. We keep pushing. We keep sending."

Skateboarding Community Rallies Around Injured Star

The post prompted an outpouring of support from across the skateboarding world, with fellow athletes and fans flooding the comments section with messages of encouragement.

"You're the real deal Ny," fellow professional skateboarder Torey Pudwill wrote. "Rest up, speedy recovery, see you soon."

"OH MANNN i am sorry, take care and take your Time," added Vincent Milou, a champion in Street League Skateboarding.

Professional boxer and social media personality Jake Paul also weighed in, joking: "Lmk if you need any tips on jaw healing."

The comment referenced Paul's highly publicized bout with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, after which Paul revealed he had broken his jaw and required two titanium plates.

The latest accident comes just months after Huston suffered a fractured skull and eye socket in a training crash in January, another incident that left him unconscious.

Remarkably, he returned to skateboarding after a relatively short recovery despite the seriousness of those injuries.

At this stage, it remains unclear how long Huston will be sidelined as he recovers from his latest setback.
