During a shooting in Bronx, New York, a mother and her 12-year-old daughter were used as a human shield, with the attack leaving six injured.

According to police, the intended victims of the Bronx shooting were running from the gunmen when they ducked into a convenience store. Here, they grabbed the mother of the young child, as well as another shopper, and used them to shield against the bullets.
"If you can imagine," begins Chief John Chell. "The mother and daughter were up against the counter when the intended targets came in and bumped into them. They then turn the mother around as they're being shot at." The mother was hit in the stomach, and her daughter was hit in the leg.
The six victims of the shooting in the Bronx are all in stable condition. Emergency services were able to get them to a hospital in time. However, the gunmen are still at large, having escaped the scene after wounding six people. What caused the shooting is also unknown.
Onlookers Shocked By Bronx Shooting
Footage of the shooting shows just how sudden the violence broke out in the Bronx, New York, street. In the surveillance tape, the gunmen can be seen opening fire from across the street. They then move into the shop, continuing to shoot.
Victims of the attack can be seen to crawl from the shop as other bystanders on the street flee. Within only a few seconds the Bronx shooting is over, and the gunmen run from the scene, leaving the six injured inside and on the sidewalk. There were many witnesses to the event.
A bystander, speaking to Fox 5, recounted his experience. "They just came out of nowhere and started shooting up the whole place. People scattered and started running around, and some people got shot. The gunmen went around the corner, and the bodies dropped."
This attack comes amid Governor Kathy Hochul's new, progressive firearm restrictions in the state. She is cracking down on the sale of firearms, and the ability to carry. Her gun laws are made in an attempt to reduce the phenomenal amount of gun crime, school shootings, and mass shootings around the county.
