According to Variety, Galecki has been cast as Tennessee Williams in a stage presentation of Kowalski. The play will take place in Chicago. The production will run from Sept. 19 through Oct. 25. Galecki has since shared his reasoning for finally returning to the acting world.
"The planets aligned," Galecki said in a statement. "Gregg's writing, Colin's vision, and the feeling that after seven years of quietly observing life, I finally had something new to bring back to the work. Add to that the privilege of portraying one of my artistic heroes, and it became impossible to say no."
While Galecki's return to acting is certainly welcomed, his fans will undoubtedly hope that the upcoming theatre production means that he will eventually sign on for another sitcom or television role. He became a fan favorite during his time on The Big Bang Theory and would undoubtedly have a swell of support.
Johnny Galecki Has Previously Acted on Broadway
This won't be Galecki's first time on a theatrical stage. He has previously appeared in a Broadway play called The Little Dog Laughed. However, after years on the set of The Big Bang Theory, Galecki may take a minute to get back up to speed with live acting.
Still, Galecki is a seasoned pro. Outside of his work on Broadway, he was also known for his role as David Healy on the hit show Roseanne. In fact, Galecki reprised that role in the sequel series The Conners, both in 2018 and 2019.
Outside of this news, fans will undoubtedly be waiting to find out whether Galecki will be making an appearance as Leonard in the upcoming The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Stuart Fails To Save The Universe. Currently, we have no answer one way or another. Hopefully, that will change soon.
